Readers and St. George News reporters noted the power being out from Dixie Drive and Sunset Boulevard to the hotel corridor along Bluff Street.

“We were one of those people,” Odin Olsen, a front desk operator at the Fairfield Inn on Convention Center Drive, told St. George News. He noted that the power was out there for about 10 minutes. But during that time, people were stuck in the hotel’s elevator.

“Everyone is OK now with the power back,” he said.

The outage took place around 8:10 a.m. and lasted for 15 minutes, St. George City spokesperson David Cordero said.

“There was an issue at one of our substations that was identified and fixed,” he added.

The outage affected St. George Energy Services customers only. There were no local outages reported for Rocky Mountain Power or Dixie Power.

Traffic lights were reportedly out at several busy corners in the 8 a.m. hour including the ones at Valley View Drive and Sunset Boulevard and Sunland Drive and Convention Center Drive.
