Locals near Pine View High School, Costco, in Fox Cove and other areas shared online that they had no power as triple-digit temperatures continued into the evening.

The St. George Police Department confirmed the outages on Facebook at 5:45 p.m. They said they could not yet report the cause nor the affected areas, but employees are reportedly hard at work under Southern Utah’s scorching sun to “repair the problem as quickly as possible.”

St. George City Spokesperson David Cordero told St. George News on Monday that the power outages were caused by a melted cutout fuse.

They concluded the post with a hashtag stating that it’s too hot. The Dixie Power website posted an estimated time of 8:45 p.m. for power to be restored.

Rocky Mountain Power also reported Sunday evening that over 2,000 households experienced power outages between Ogden and Salina. The cause of these outages are also under investigation.

Updated, July 16, 8:22 p.m., Both the city of St. George and Dixie Power were reporting all power has been restored.

Updated, July 17, 4:05 p.m., to include the cause.
