ST. GEORGE — In a collaborative public/private partnership to enhance and beautify the city, PEG Companies, the developer, owner and operator of The Advenire hotel and City View St. George Apartments — along with the City of St. George — are seeking talented artists interested in creating a large mural in the heart of the historic downtown district.

Located near the intersection of 100 West and St. George Boulevard, on the west facade of the shared parking garage between The Advenire hotel and City View St. George Apartments, the future mural will span approximately 13 feet high and 35 feet wide and become a significant long-term focal point of the community in a highly visible area of town.

“Art connects community members and adds to the human experience, enhancing our quality of life,” Mayor Michele Randall said in a media release. “With each new mural, the arts district in downtown St. George becomes more vibrant and welcoming due to the work of passionate artists.”

To find the right artist, PEG and the City of St. George issued a request for proposal and set an application deadline of Feb. 29 to submit. Proposals will be reviewed in depth as project leaders narrow them down to a shortlist of finalists.

Artists could then be contacted and interviewed about their ideas, creative processes, proposed execution timelines and weatherproofing techniques before stakeholders will ultimately select someone to complete the mural.

PEG and the city of St. George encourage creative ideas and outside-the-box thinking that reflect the community’s rich history, unique culture or its vibrant future. Applicants should keep in mind the unique location of the mural and remember that it will be viewed from both close and far-away distances.

“In just four years in business, The Advenire has quickly become the most desirable destination hotel in the area,” PEG Companies CEO Cameron Gunter said in a news release. “The uniquely authentic experience The Advenire offers along with the beautiful adjacent City View St. George Apartments represent the essence of Southern Utah at its finest. Now, we’re seeking a strong exterior mural that can further elevate the neighborhood.”
