The SUU Veterans Center proposed with the Iron County Veterans Coalition to a national committee for review and was the only site in the state of Utah to receive the distinction.

“SUU has a long-standing relationship with the veterans in our community,” said SUU Vice President of Student Affairs Jared Tippets. “We are proud to have a large percentage of veterans as part of our student population and an excellent Veterans Center that has coordinated a Veterans Day celebration worthy of national recognition and attention.”

The application process is based on scheduled events and activities that pay tribute to the local veteran community. The coalition’s application was selected because of quality events scheduled both on SUU’s campus and throughout the community.

The crowning event will be a university-sponsored concert honoring 11 veterans to be in special attendance. Residents wishing to honor the veterans in Cedar City can attend many of the Veterans Day events:

Monday, Nov. 6 — Field of Flag Display: Place a small flag on the SUU Library Quad to represent all our veteran students, staff and faculty.
