Janson is set to take the stage on Friday, April 21, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $49 for general admission (bleacher seating) or $89 for premier admission (floor access, standing room only) and are now available to purchase through the fair’s website. Reserve early to make sure you don’t miss it.

“We’re happy that Chris’ concert schedule allows for a stop at the Washington County Fair,” fair director Susi Lafaele said. “This concert promises to be dynamic, entertaining and family-friendly.”

Janson is a platinum-selling recording artist, high-octane live entertainer, multi-instrumentalist, award-winning singer/songwriter and Grand Ole Opry member. His prestigious accolades, which place him among many country music greats, include three Country Music Association Awards nominations and Video of the Year at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards.

His triple-platinum breakout hit, “Buy Me a Boat,” won Country Song of the Year at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards, and his poignant single “Drunk Girl” was named MusicRow’s 2018 Song of the Year. Along with these hits, Southern Utah audiences can expect to hear his gold-selling No. 1 singles “Good Vibes,” “Fix a Drink” and “Done.”

“Good vibes are what he’s all about, and that’s exactly what you get when you come to the fair,” Lafaele said. “It’s all included with the price of admission.”

General admission to the fair costs $2 per adult and $1 per child (ages 3-12). Parking is free. For $249 per ticket, you can get the ultimate VIP experience, which includes access to the rodeo, demolition derby and concert as well as catered dinner and beer.

The 163rd annual Washington County Fair will be held April 14-22, and Lafaele said it’s a tradition that many locals look forward to each year. Whether you’re showing off an award-winning quilt or enjoying carnival rides with friends, there’s something for everyone.

“If you’ve never been before, now is a good time to come,” she added. “There’s plenty of different things to see and do for all ages.”

The inaugural Washington County Fair was held in September 1860 at the estate of John D. Lee, when Washington City was the county seat and St. George was not yet settled. Families from surrounding towns journeyed by horseback and wagon to show off their livestock, crops and crafts, this rare opportunity to gather perhaps offering a moment’s reprieve from the hardships of pioneer life.

After many name, venue and date changes over the following decades, Washington County Legacy Park was selected as its permanent location in 1997.

“It’s pretty incredible to have a fair that’s such a long-standing tradition,” Lafaele said. “One thing that we’re really trying to continue is just that tradition of community. The fair brings everyone together.”
