ST. GEORGE — On Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Forsyth room of the St George library, historian Lisa-Michelle Church will present “Bigelow’s Arrowhead Trail,” a history of the first overland road for cars that came through St. George and Santa Clara.
Church will present an illustrated lecture about the trail, with special focus on famed racecar driver Charles H. Bigelow, whose efforts publicized the route. Bigelow drove in the first Indy 500 and was also a travel writer. In 1915 and 1916 he drove the Arrowhead Trail several times and wrote about his experiences.
After the presentation a field trip to see remains of the old road will be lead by the Washington County Historical Society.
