Snow Canyon High School student earns fourth runner-up at state scholarship program

ST. GEORGE — The Distinguished Young Women of Utah program was held on Oct. 18 and 19 at Juan Diego High School in Draper, Utah. This year’s representative of Southern Utah, Katherine Park, won awards in Scholastic, Talent and Self-Expression.

She also placed fourth overall totaling more than $4,000 in cash scholarships to the college of her choice.

Park is a Senior at Snow Canyon High School and was announced as the Distinguished Young Woman of Southern Utah this past May at the local area program. At the local level, she won over $1,500 in scholarships along with the opportunity to compete for the position of Distinguished Young Woman of Utah.

The Distinguished Young Women of Southern Utah program is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. Cash scholarships are awarded at the local level and millions in college-granted scholarships are awarded nationally. The local program for this next year will be held in May 2020 for high school girls graduating in 2021.
