Sears Art Museum presents G. Russell Case: Utah North to South

With his deep connections within the plein air and landscape art communities, G. Russell Case has received a lifetime of prestigious awards and has been featured in reputable galleries and museums. Being born and raised in Brigham City, Utah, and attending Utah State University in Logan, Utah, his art speaks directly to the rural Utah lived experience.

The Sears Art Museum located in the Eccles Fine Arts Center will be featuring the beautiful artwork of G. Russell Case in his show Utah North to South, a 30-year retrospect of fieldwork and studio paintings of Utah north to south. The show will run from July 15 to Sept. 2 and is free to the public. We invite you to come and enjoy the new and past work of G. Russell Case while enjoying the beauty of Southern Utah.

The Museum also will be featuring The Besendorfer Ranch Project by Theresa Otteson and Sherry Rauch in the Eccles Grand Foyer. The Besendorfer Ranch in Midway, Utah is a “museum” of old buildings stocked with thousands of unique objects that connect us to the past and tell stories of times that were much different than our own. A time when people had less stuff, thought more about their purchases and were more connected to the items they did buy.

When Theresa Otteson and Sherry Rauch felt a connection to the ranch they went to work. The exhibit tells the Besendorfer story through paintings, etchings and stereoscope photos they took of the ranch.

The Museum is hosting a free meet-the-artist talk with G. Russell Case on the opening night July 15 at 6 p.m., which will be followed by an artist reception from 7-8:30 p.m.

Admission to the museum is free, and the museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on weekends and holidays.
