KANAB — Supporting students and teachers is a key focus for South Central Communications – now operating as SC Broadband in service areas along the Interstate 15 corridor.

That philosophy was the catalyst for the “Go Gig for Schools Program,” now celebrating a second successful year raising funds to support local schools and educational programs.

During the first part of this school year, SC Broadband offered new or upgrading Gig Internet customers the opportunity to designate a $100 donation to the public K-12 school of their choice. Through the 2019 “Go Gig for Schools” promotion, SC Broadband was able to raise $25,400 for over 40 local schools across their entire service area.

Schools within the Washington and Iron County School districts were once again significant beneficiaries of this generous program, receiving a grand total of $4,900. Those funds will go into each school’s general fund and be used for supplies and classroom material, to start new programs, and augment new learning opportunities.

According to SC Broadband Public Relations Coordinator Ebbi Hafen, they believe in creating stronger communities.

” The Go Gig for Schools Program and donating to our local schools is one way we can work together with our customers and accomplish that goal, she said. “SC Broadband thanks everyone who helped make the Go Gig for Schools program such a profound success and is looking forward future partnerships and opportunities to strengthen local schools and educational programs.”

South Central Utah Telephone Association began offering telephone service to the rural areas of Southern Utah in 1953. Now known as SC Broadband and South Central Communications, they have transformed into the leading provider of high speed internet and broadband solutions within every community they serve. No company in the region has more fiber in the ground and offers the local, responsive services demanded by residents and businesses throughout South Central Utah and Northern Arizona.
