Archaeolgoy Society presents ‘Archaeology of Native American Flutes in the Southwest’

ST. GEORGE — The Dixie Archaeology Society welcomes Scott August, nationally recognized Native American Flute player, teacher and historian, presenting “The Archaeology of Native American Flutes in the Southwest.”

Note this month’s change from the regular meeting date and location. The Society will meet  March 7 , from 7-8:30 pm in the Dunford Auditorium, Val Browning Learning Resource Center, 225 S. 700 East on the Dixie State University Campus. Scott’s visually packed overview extends from the earliest discoveries of the first Native American flutes to historical use of flutes in Puebloan native cultures. Sorry, no pictures or recording please.

The Dixie Archaeology Society is a group of individuals whose purpose is to educate the public regarding archaeological resources, especially rock art, sites and artifacts within Utah, the Arizona Strip and Southern Nevada. The presentation is free. Memberships are $25 for singles, $30 for couples.
