Cop or robber? St. George Police to connect with community in upcoming fun run

ST. GEORGE — Runners of all ages will either chase or be chased in a fun, camaraderie-filled event designed to enhance the tight-knit relationship shared by the St. George Police Department and residents during the Cops and Robbers 10K, 5K and 1K.

Participants will be running for their freedom or chasing bandits on Saturday, May 20, at Bloomington Park, located at 650 Man O’ War Road. The event starts at 9 a.m. as runners choose between portraying a “cop” or a “robber” and with three race options.

“We wanted to go above and beyond to celebrate our local police by creating an event that would be exciting and interactive for community members of all ages,” St. George Police Officer Cody Layton said in the news release issued about the event. “With our community being at the heart of what we do, we are able to recognize and honor the support and love from those we serve.”

The race is set up to encourage fun interactions with the officers who protect and serve city residents. Participants will also receive a unique shirt and custom swag depending on which team they join. All finishers will receive a medal. Participants’ times begin when they cross the starting line no matter which team they choose.

The start times are as follows:

  • 10K Robbers: 9 a.m.
  • 10K Cops: 9:01 a.m.
  • 5K Robbers:  9:05 a.m.
  • 5K Cops: 9:06 a.m.
  • 1K Kids: 10:30 a.m.

Packet pickup will take place Friday, May 19, from 5-7 p.m., or Saturday, May 20, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Bloomington Park (650 Man O’ War Rd).
