ST. GEORGE — Roadwork on Sunset Boulevard in St. George is set to begin at the start of April and run up to mid-May as the Utah Department of Transportation seeks to improve parts of the roadway.

Like Bluff Street, Sunset Boulevard, also known state Route 8, is a state road managed and maintained by UDOT. Work is set to begin Monday, April 3, and will take place between the intersections of Valley View and Dixie Downs drives, according to a UDOT press release.

Crews will be improving pedestrian ramps at specific locations along the roadway to remain compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Crews also will be removing and repaving the top layer of asphalt on the road within the project area.

Work will be done Monday-Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with intermittent nights anticipated for the first two weeks of May. No work is planned for the weekends.

Traffic patterns will shift during the project and motorists are asked to stay within their own lanes of travel and obey posted speed limits. Doing this can help prevent potential crashes, injuries and awkward encounters with law enforcement, the news release said.
