Region 10 champion and No. 3 tournament seed Snow Canyon (17-5 overall) has a bye on Tuesday and won’t play until the quarterfinals in Logan on Thursday afternoon at 4:10 p.m., when the Warriors will face the winner of Tuesday’s first-round matchup between No. 11 Pine View (7-16) and No. 6 Bear River (10-10).

Dixie owns Region 10’s next highest 4A tournament seed at No. 5. The Flyers (14-8) host region rival Crimson Cliffs (2-15), the tournament’s 12th seed, on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. The teams split their two regular-season matchups, with Crimson winning 47-31 at home on Jan. 24 and Dixie narrowly edging the Mustangs 50-48 in overtime just last Thursday, Feb. 16.

Desert Hills will also be hosting a playoff game on Tuesday, with the No. 8 Thunder (11-11) scheduled to face region rival and No. 9 seeded Hurricane (7-12). That game, which tips off at 5 p.m. and will be streamed live on The Fan Sports Network, is the first of back-to-back playoff games scheduled for the Thunderdome on Tuesday night, as the Desert Hills boys are scheduled to play Cedar in their first-round matchup right after the girls game ends, at 7 p.m.

The Desert Hills girls defeated Hurricane both times they played the Tigers during the regular season, with the Thunder winning 58-49 at Hurricane on Jan. 5 and by a score of 44-41 at Desert Hills on Jan. 31.

In addition, two Region 10 teams will be playing on the road at the northern end of the state on Tuesday night. No. 10 seed Cedar (5-15) plays at No. 7 seed Mountain Crest (9-13) in the Cache County community of Hyrum, at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, to the west in the Box Elder County community of Garland, the No. 11 seeded Pine View Panthers (7-16) will face the No. 6 seeded Bear River Bears (10-10), also at 7 p.m. As mentioned earlier, the winner of that latter game will advance to play Snow Canyon in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

St. George News and The Fan Sports Network are committed to providing their readers and listeners with complete coverage of the 4A girls and boys playoffs throughout the week, including the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals to be staged Thursday through Saturday at Utah State University in Logan.
