Cedar High School hosted the boys’ event, which consisted of each team competing in a total of eight dual matches Friday-Saturday. In addition to local teams Cedar, Canyon View, Milford, Panguitch, Snow Canyon and Hurricane, there were a few teams from Nevada and California schools as well.

Snow Canyon won all eight of its duals to earn top honors as a team, while Panguitch took second overall and Milford third, according to Cedar head coach Luke Payne.

Payne noted that Cedar didn’t go up against co-host Canyon View, nor did they face Hurricane or Snow Canyon.

“I guess we would have been somewhere in the middle of the pack,” Payne said.

Payne also joked that the post-holiday event gives participants a chance to “work off the fruitcake.”

Among the individual highlights, starting with the lighter weights and working up:

In the 106-pound class, junior Tanner Marshall of Panguitch went 8-0. At 113 pounds, Paul Wright of Hurricane went 7-1.

At 120 pounds, Kaden Guymon of Snow Canyon went 8-0, while Judd Netto of Milford went 7-1. Netto’s only loss was to Guymon via fall (pin).

At 126 pounds, Hagen Mayer of Milford went 8-0, while Shad Partridge of Panguitch went 7-1, his only loss by pin to Mayer.
