Spartan Point Health is a virtual medical clinic that focuses solely on men’s health issues. Without a brick-and-mortar location, patients enjoy the freedom to book appointments at their convenience with a caring, knowledgeable physician dedicated to improving their well-being. “When men feel good about how their bodies are functioning, it reflects positively in many other aspects of their lives,” said Dr. Steven Baum, the clinic’s founder and owner. “It gives them the confidence, energy and motivation they need to show up where they’re needed – in their careers, communities, relationships, families and more.”

After serving in the Air Force, including deployments to Germany and Iraq, Baum majored in exercise and sport science at the University of Utah and received his medical degree from The Ohio State University. He completed residency training at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo and is a board-certified family medicine physician with licenses in both Utah and Arizona.

Having already practiced as a primary care and urgent care physician, as well as serving as the medical director of a health care facility for veterans, Baum decided to establish his own clinic in the fall of 2022. With Spartan Point Health, he aims to remove barriers to treatment for low testosterone and other aspects of men’s health, including erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation and hair loss, as well as weight loss and mental health.

“I created Spartan Point Health because I believe that physicality is an essential part of a man’s health and identity,” he said. “Our mission is to safely and ethically provide you with the highest quality of care while helping you feel like the best version of yourself.”

Lack of energy, less strength, decreased endurance, diminished sex drive, weaker erections and difficulty concentrating are all indicative of low testosterone levels. Baum experienced many of these symptoms himself upon entering his mid-30s. After starting testosterone replacement therapy, he found renewed vitality in the office, in the gym and in the bedroom.

Testosterone replacement therapy is safe and effective for most men. The primary goal is to optimize each patient’s physical and psychological sense of well-being by elevating their testosterone levels to a more optimal range. However, that’s only the beginning.

The symptoms of low testosterone are caused by a variety of factors, including age, obesity, mental health disorders, sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition and lack of quality sleep. By conducting comprehensive evaluations, the medical team at Spartan Point Health ensures that they’re seeing the whole picture while identifying a patient’s care goals. Testosterone levels are viewed in conjunction with symptoms, not as the single determinant of whether someone needs treatment.

Many men struggle with the symptoms of low testosterone, yet they have limited options when it comes to finding treatment. Baum said this is largely due to a misunderstanding among both patients and physicians that testosterone replacement therapy is synonymous with “juicing.” But there’s a clear difference.

“Juicing” is defined as the short-term use of anabolic steroids for the purpose of performance enhancement and physical augmentation with no regard for potential health consequences. Testosterone replacement therapy, however, involves medically monitored, physiologic dosing of testosterone in symptomatic patients with suboptimal testosterone levels. The patient’s long-term health is always kept in mind, and research supporting the safety and efficacy of testosterone replacement therapy is abundant.

Spartan Point Health offers a free new patient consultation to determine if testosterone replacement therapy is right for you. Services are offered on a cash-pay basis as a $100 no-contract monthly subscription. The subscription includes unlimited visits, physician access via call or text, hassle-free cancellation and referral initiatives.

“I honestly think the convenience of the process is what makes it easy and chill,” patient Aaron D. said. “Everything is at the patient’s convenience, not set appointments. I live life in the fast lane, so easy and convenient is key!”

“Concierge medicine is how our patients want to be seen,” Baum added. “It’s personal service. You know I’m your doctor, and I’m in your corner.”
