Police: Suspect dies after shots fired in Hurricane

HURRICANE — A suspect was reportedly shot and killed by police in Hurricane Monday evening.

According to a social media advisory issued by the Hurricane Police Department at approximately 9:30 p.m., authorities were actively investigating the incident in the area of 2400 West and 250 North.

“A Police K9 has been critically wounded and the sole suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene,” the advisory states. “There is no further risk to the public at this time.”

The K-9 unit was reportedly rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic for care.

A large police presence comprising Washington County’s Critical Incident Team was observed at the alleged crime scene in Hurricane.
