What’s on the Menu: Sanchez Mexican Food | Sponsored by CasaBlanca Resort & Casino

ST. GEORGE — The holiday season is all about family, and “What’s on the Menu” host Sheldon Demke took the opportunity to spend some quality time with a very special relative in this week’s episode. They explored the menu at Sanchez Mexican Food, a family-owned restaurant serving homestyle favorites with care and love.

Demke heard a lot of great things about Sanchez Mexican Food before visiting, especially their chile relleno platter. Huge chiles with rice and beans covered in amazing sauce and a sprinkling of cheese on top. The rumors were definitely true!

While enjoying the dazzling flavors – and scoring some brownie points with his wife – Demke discovered a new favorite in the chicken empanadas. The flaky dough just melts in your mouth, and the filling packs quite a punch.

“I love being in the kitchen and watching them make these by hand,” he said. “There’s definitely an art to it, and believe me, this is my kind of art.”

They also tried the carne asada nachos, which elevate the classic snack food with a generous helping of sizzling steak bites.

“They were spectacular, nice and cheesy,” said menu guest Kristin Allen, Demke’s mother-in-law. “A great proportion of meat and cheese and salsa.”

Sanchez Mexican Food opened in October 2014 with a mission to bring delicious and authentic Mexican food to the people of St. George.

“We’re so happy to serve the St. George community and Santa Clara too,” owner Jessica Sanchez said. “And you are very welcome, and I hope you like my food.”
