CEDAR CITY — A 68-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on state Route 20 in Iron County on Thursday.

According to a Utah Highway Patrol news release, the man was driving a black Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on SR-20 about 5 miles east of where SR-20 begins at Interstate 15’s Exit 95.

“At this location, there is a large sweeping left hand curve,” the release stated. “The motorcycle appears to have been going too fast for the curve and drifted to the outside.”

The motorcycle then left the roadway and struck a rock, causing the bike to flip end over end. The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike and onto the rocks. He died at the scene from his injuries, according to UHP.

Traffic was affected by lane closures for approximately 3 1/2 hours while the scene was investigated.

The name of the deceased rider was released by Utah Highway Patrol early Friday afternoon. He was identified as Martin T. Trujillo of Clinton, Utah.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
