Iron County Sheriff’s Lt. David Mitchell told Cedar City News the trailer, valued at $5,000, was parked along Greenslake Drive in the southeastern portion of Cedar City when it was damaged sometime on or around Sunday. The road leads up the mountain to the Cedar Highlands community.

Damage to the trailer was extensive, according to a Monday post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page. The damage reportedly included the theft of batteries and other items that were locked inside a storage compartment.

The trailers, which have electronic displays that inform passing motorists how fast they are going, are used for traffic monitoring and to help reduce speeding.

According to the social media post, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Posse is offering a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the subject(s) involved.

Anyone with information that may help in the investigation is asked to contact either Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 435-867-7500 or Cedar City Police Department at 435-586-2956. The Cedar City Police case number is C22-02831.
