The crash, which was reported shortly before 5 p.m., involved a silver Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and a gray Nissan Sentra sedan. Cedar City Police Sgt. Dustin Orton said the collision occurred when the driver of the Santa Fe, who had been heading west on 1600 North, attempted to turn left onto southbound Main Street.

“Failing to yield to the traffic, she pulled in front of a vehicle,” Orton said.

The northbound Nissan then impacted the front end of the Hyundai, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

No injuries were reported, Orton said.

The Hyundai driver received a citation for failure to yield, he added.

Northbound traffic on Main Street was impacted by a right-lane closure for approximately 30-40 minutes while police investigated the crash and tow truck operators worked to clear the wrecked vehicles from the scene.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
