Man killed in UTV accident during trail jamboree in Beaver County

ST. GEORGE — A 79-year-old Colorado man was killed Saturday in a UTV crash in Beaver County.

The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call at approximately 12:05 pm reporting the crash near Big John’s Flat in the Tushar Mountains, 37 miles east of Beaver.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they located the UTV and found the vehicle’s driver had been killed in the crash. The  man was participating in the Paiute Trail Jamboree with a UTV riding group out of Marysvale, Utah. Friends and some family members were also traveling with the group.

The driver was alone in the crashed UTV.

The Paiute Trail is a Southern Utah favorite riding course for UTV enthusiasts. It is about 6.2 miles north of Eagle Point Resort.

The victim’s identity will not be released until after family members are contacted.
