ST. GEORGE — Before last week, Southern Utah had received about one-tenth of an inch of rain for all of 2022.

After 1.29 inches of rain in the last week, the area has bumped its total rainfall for the year by 1,200%.

But stay tuned: There could be more to come, both in Washington and Iron counties. The National Weather Service says after Monday night passes with a slight chance of thunderstorms, the monsoonal pattern will hold off in St. George until at least Thursday night. However, a chance of showers remains throughout the week in the Cedar City area.

At least for now, there haven’t been any flood watches issued by the weather service for anywhere in Southern Utah for Monday. However, the service still warns of potential flooding in the slot canyons and other parts of Zion National Park and the other local state and national parks.

St. George News and its readers chronicled the floods, rain, hail and general mayhem that came from a week of monsoonal moisture. Check out some of those images below and the video above.
