Wreck on I-15 south of Mesquite; one lane closed to southbound traffic at Nevada milepost 112; 9 injured

ST. GEORGE — A semi-tractor-trailer has tangled with multiple cars on Interstate 15, closing the highway to southbound traffic and reportedly causing multiple injuries.

Mesquite Police Department Sgt. Wyatt Oliver told St. George News that a semi and multiple vehicles are involved on I-15. The crash is southbound at mile marker 112, near the Riverside Road exit.

Social media posts indicate at least one medical helicopter landing to assist with the injured.

UPDATE July 23 6:20 p.m. The right lane of I-15 has been opened to traffic, however a large backup still exists, according to webcams in the area.

UPDATE July 23 6:30 p.m. Capt. Spencer Lewis of Mesquite Fire and Rescue confirms that a semi-tractor-trailer rear-ended two vehicles. Nine patients have been treated. Mesquite Fire and Rescue and Moapa Valley Fire and Rescue transported two adults, 4 children and one infant to a Las Vegas hospital, while one adult was taken by Mercy Air to the hospital. One adult signed out against medical advice.
