Brent D. Jensen

Dec. 27, 1939-July 13, 2022

Brent D. Jensen, 82, passed away at his St. George home on July 13, 2022. Brent was born on Dec. 27, 1939, to Dermus and Venice Jensen in Emery, Utah. He married Karen Olsen on Sept. 24, 1960, and they were sealed in the Manti Utah LDS Temple.

Growing up in Emery, Utah, on his parents’ farm, Brent learned the value of hard work and developed a love of the outdoors: hunting, fishing, shooting and riding horses. His interests led him to a career with the Bureau of Land Management where he worked for over 37 years in Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Arizona. After retirement from the BLM, Brent was the driving force behind the creation of the Southern Utah Shooting Sports Park and served as its chairman for many years. For 25 years he taught in the Utah Hunter Education Program. He also led tours of the Southern Utah area through the Dixie College Elderhostel program where he shared his knowledge of local geology, plants and history with travelers from around the country.

In his spare time Brent could be found shotgun shooting, working on a project for the grandchildren or great-grandchildren, riding his 4-wheeler ATV, camping up in the mountains or giving a helping hand to a friend or neighbor in need.

As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Brent faithfully served in many callings and positions.

Brent had a deep love for his parents, siblings, wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members. He always enjoyed spending time with them and tried to spend as much time with them as he could.

He is survived by his wife Karen; sisters LaWayne Jensen and Kenna Park; brother Russel Jensen; his three children, Sherri Jensen, Stacy Cattelain (Gil) and Lance Jensen (Karen); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, at 10 a.m., with a viewing 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills LDS Chapel at 750 East Fort Pierce Road, St. George.

Interment will be in the Emery, Utah, Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Pine View Mortuary, 435-986-4222. Visit the Pine View Mortuary website for full obituary and funeral service listing.
