Crystal Joy Schwalger

Aug. 7, 1968-June 28, 2022

On June 28, 2022, at 11:40 am Crystal Joy Schwalger returned into the arms of our Lord after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

She endured this fight with grace and courage all with a smile. Despite this trial, Crystal came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. She was 53 years old.

Crystal Joy Schwalger was born August 7, 1968, to parents Dewie and Betty Lafevers in Hood River, Oregon. She grew up in Bingen, Washington, with her parents and three sisters.

Crystal met her sweetheart Clarence at BYU-Hawaii and knew that they would be together forever from the beginning. They married Dec. 16, 1989. Together they had five children. They first lived and raised their children in Washougal/Camas, Washington. In 2008 the family moved to Washington, Utah.

Crystal enjoyed spending time with her husband. She loved to travel with him and make new memories together. She especially loved the beach and going to Hawaii.

She was a hard worker and was proud to earn her Master of Science Management and Leadership.

She loved her children and was someone they could all talk to about both the good and bad. Someone who knew how to support the individual needs of her children.

She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community and did her best to help others when she could.

She is survived by her loving husband Clarence Schwalger (Washington, Utah), children Keeley Campbell (Keegan, San Antonio, Texas ), Keenan Schwalger (Meg, St. George, Utah), Mikaio Schwalger (Phoenix, Arizona), Mikenzie Veamatahau (Sosaia, Washington, Utah), Kaden Schwalger (Washington, Utah), grandchildren Henry, Noel, Elijah, Salesi, and Zaya, sisters Diann, Laurel and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dewie and Betty Lafevers, sister Tae Campbell and nephews Yohan Choi, Aric Campbell  and Ryan Campbell.

The family is comforted by the fact that Crystal passed on her beloved sister Tae’s birthday. We believe that she left when she did to reunite with her sister whom she missed very much.

Funeral services will be Saturday July 9, at 9 a.m. at the Washington Stake Center 486 E Mangum Rd, Washington, Utah. Interment will take place at the Washington City Cemetery 300 Park View Drive, immediately after.

Services will be live-streamed from the Hughes Mortuary obituary page.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 S. St. George, Utah, 435-674-5000.
