In the first incident, Beaver Dam/Littlefield firefighter Jared Gardner said he responded to a single-vehicle rollover on I-15 at mile marker 17 around 6 a.m. that involved two occupants. The male driver reportedly went into the left lane, overcorrected, then rolled. Both occupants refused medical attention or transport.

Later, Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Battalion Chief Andre Ojeda said a 9:50 a.m. call sent the Beaver Dam Fire Department to a vehicle fire involving a four-door sedan just before mile marker 9 near the Desert Springs exit.

Ojeda said that the male driver told him that while he was driving, he saw flames coming from the hood of the vehicle. As he pulled over and opened the hood, he saw that the engine compartment was completely on fire. He then shut the hood and retrieved a few items from his vehicle.

The driver was unsure what caused the engine to catch fire. The incident did not involve any other vehicles.

“By the time we got there, the vehicle was completely engulfed,” Ojeda said. “It was a total loss, but the driver was unhurt.”

This report is based on information from fire and other officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
