CEDAR CITY — A woman who led law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase for nearly 30 miles on Interstate 15 in early June has been sentenced to 18 months probation in connection with the incident.

Brittany Anne Anderson, 30, was sentenced in 5th District Court on June 14, just 11 days after her arrest.

Although her name wasn’t included in the initial St. George News report about the incident, Anderson was later identified in court documents as the driver of a southbound Mercury Marquis that passed a Utah Highway Patrol trooper at 106 mph on I-15 near mile marker 65, just north of Cedar City.

The ensuing high-speed pursuit involved officers from multiple agencies. Eventually, a spike strip was deployed, which deflated the vehicle’s tires and caused its driver to stop the car near the Toquerville Exit at mile marker 27.

Anderson initially was charged with failure to stop at the command of police, a third-degree felony, and reckless driving, a class B misdemeanor.

However, when she appeared in court on June 14 before Judge Ann Marie McIff Allen, Anderson pleaded guilty to a single count of failure to stop at the command of police, which was downgraded to a class A misdemeanor. The reckless driving count was dismissed as part of her plea agreement with prosecutors.

The judge then sentenced Anderson to 18 months of court-supervised probation and ordered her to pay a fine of $553, payable in monthly installments of $50. The jail term of 365 days was suspended, and Anderson was given credit for the 11 days she’d served.
