ST. GEORGE — A driver was transported to the hospital after running a red light at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Valley View Drive Wednesday afternoon.
According to St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell, a blue Toyota Prius was heading westbound on Sunset shortly after 3 p.m. Meanwhile, a black Chevy Tahoe was going northbound on Valley View.
Mitchell said that the Prius ran a red light and was struck in the intersection by the Tahoe.
The driver of the Prius was transported to St. George Regional Hospital via Gold Cross Ambulance, Mitchell said, suffering minor facial injuries.
The female driver of the Tahoe was not injured, said Mitchell, adding that the Prius was towed from the scene and regular traffic flow resumed quickly.
The driver of the Prius was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal, Mitchell said, and also was cited for a handheld communication device violation.
This report is based on statements by police personnel and may not contain the full scope of the findings.
