CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Whether studying or working an office job, modern life requires extensive screen time that often leads to eye strain. Relief can be hard to find, but Neurolens, now available at Paradise Canyon Eye Care, has the solution.

For some patients, restoring 20/20 vision with regular eyeglasses isn’t enough. Neurolens helps diagnose a common problem that many people aren’t aware they suffer from and get them on the path to better vision.

“We’ve had patient after patient after patient for whom these lenses have been completely life-changing,” said Theresa Fife, office manager and optician at Paradise Canyon Eye Care. “Neurolens has a 93% success rate when it comes to symptom relief, which is pretty amazing for any medical treatment.”

Anyone who frequently experiences headaches, neck and shoulder pain, dry eyes, eye strain, dizziness, sensitivity to light and discomfort with computer use may be a candidate for Neurolens. For many people, these symptoms are caused by misalignment of the eyes.

While the eyes and brain work together to correct visual misalignment so the patient sees normally, they become fatigued more quickly. This can lead to unpleasant symptoms that make it more difficult to stay focused and productive.

Neurolenses are prescription eyeglasses featuring prism optics that aim to reduce the symptoms of visual misalignment. The technology helps remedy misalignment both at a distance and up close by offering different amounts of correction based on where the wearer is looking.

At Paradise Canyon Eye Care, an optical technician will administer a quick test using the Neurolens measurement device to check for misalignment in both near and far vision. Most patients have more visual misalignment when looking at close objects, so using a screen or reading for an extended period can exacerbate eye fatigue and increase the likelihood of headaches.

Even small misalignments can cause irritating symptoms, and even minor prism corrections can provide dramatic relief. Neurolens guarantees patients will experience significant reduction in symptoms. Otherwise, the cost of the lenses is 100% refunded.

Paradise Canyon Eye Care started offering Neurolens in August 2021. At the time, only about 400 optometrists nationwide provided patients with this cutting-edge technology. Now, that number is close to 700.

Fife said some people aren’t nearsighted or farsighted or require minimal correction, so they’ve been told they don’t need glasses. Yet, they’re experiencing the same symptoms associated with eye misalignment. Neurolens can help these patients as well.

Neurolens products look just like ordinary eyeglasses, and the technology can be added to a single or progressive prescription lens. It’s also available with Transitions lenses, which automatically adapt to changing light conditions, and in polarized sunglasses.

Fife said Neurolens might sound too good to be true – until you try it for yourself. The technology has provided vital relief for patients battling the symptoms of visual misalignment, some for years.

“People have been working with their primary care provider and even specialists to determine the cause of their headaches, but they can’t find any answers,” she added. “We’ve put them in Neurolens and their headaches are gone.”

Thomas O. is one of many patients who was suffering from frequent headaches and had difficulty focusing on his computer screen. After just a few days of using Neurolens, his headaches vanished and work became easier.

“I’m glad I took the recommendation for them and would encourage others to try them!” he said.

Donna P. recently added Neurolens technology to her corrective glasses and noticed significant improvement in clarity.

“My eyes are not tired, and light doesn’t bother me,” she said. “I am driving at night, which I couldn’t do before I got the Neurolens.”
