ST. GEORGE — As of Friday, Bluff Street between Main Street and the I-15 southbound ramps is now open to vehicles and pedestrians, according to a press release issued by the Utah Department of Transportation.
The full closure at South Bluff Street was planned to last two weeks, but construction crews completed their work three days ahead of schedule. Drivers can expect additional lane closures in the project area through fall 2022 as crews continue construction of the pedestrian tunnel.
As previously reported by St. George News, UDOT, in conjunction with the city of St. George, is constructing a pedestrian tunnel that will run under Bluff Street, connecting the east and west sides of the Hilton Drive Trail. This new connection will give pedestrians and cyclists a safe access across Bluff Street that avoids the busy Main Street signal.

Construction will continue through fall 2022. Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest information on traffic patterns and restrictions during construction, visit the UDOT Traffic website or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android.
