ST. GEORGE —Amelia Nadauld, who just completed eighth grade at Snow Canyon Middle School, finished first overall in her age group in the 200-meter dash at the Nike Outdoor Nationals track and field meet held Thursday through Sunday in Eugene, Oregon.

Nadauld, 14, posted a personal best time of 25.22 seconds in the preliminaries on Friday morning, then won the finals race three hours later, breaking her PR again with a time of 25.09.

The previous day, Nadauld had competed in the 100-meter dash. Emerging from Thursday’s prelims as a No. 3 seed, she took second in the finals with a time of 12.32, slightly off her personal best of 12.20.

Nadauld is currently ranked 13th in the nation among the 13-14 age group in both races on Athletic.net.

It was so fun,” Nadauld told St. George News via text message on Sunday. “All the officials and athletes were really nice and fun to get to know.”

Nadauld was also impressed with the track and other facilities at the University of Oregon campus.

“Not only was the stadium amazing, but also all the warm-up facilities,” she said. “There is an underground indoor track you can do sprints on right before coming out to your race.”

The meet attracted hundreds of elite athletes from around the country. Adidas and New Balance also hosted similar championship events the same weekend, in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, respectively.

As previously reported in St. George News, Nadauld competed in March in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia, winning two first-place medals and one second-place medal.

Another Snow Canyon athlete who also competed at the Nike Outdoor Nationals meet in Oregon was recently graduated senior Kristin Cook. Cook placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.60 seconds after qualifying with a 24.32 time in the preliminaries. She also took 12th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.19 seconds.
