Just before 7 p.m, emergency dispatchers received a call concerning a single-vehicle crash involving a white SUV. Hurricane City Police and Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and found a Volkswagen Tiguan that had rolled onto its top.

Police and fire units blocked the road around the crashed vehicle and had traffic leave the roadway and drive through the dirt and brush along the roadside until they were able to return to the paved road.

Hurricane City Police Office Dan Radditz said the driver, who was the sole occupant of the SUV, had been placed in an ambulance and taken to St. George Regional Hospital. Radditz was unable to comment on the extent or severity of any injuries the woman may have received from the crash.

Details surrounding the cause of the crash were also unknown at the time St. George News spoke to Radditz as the police had yet to interview the driver.

The front-left corner of the SUV appeared to take the brunt of the damage with the left-front wheel having been ripped off at some point during the crash.

Along the west side of the road by the crash were three concrete barriers protecting a power pole – one of many running along that part of Sand Hollow Road. One of the barriers appeared to have been impacted by the SUV as it was pushed back and knocked over from its original position.

The SUV was towed away with the road reopening to traffic soon after.
