CEDAR CITY — A Cedar City woman who was allegedly found to have had a bag of methamphetamine hidden in her pants during a traffic stop in February has been sentenced to three years’ probation.

Nanette Edith Moosman, 36, was sentenced by 5th District Court Judge Matthew L. Bell on Monday.

As previously reported in St. George News / Cedar City News, Moosman had been riding in the rear seat of a vehicle that was pulled over by police on Interstate 15 in Cedar City on the morning of Feb. 26.

During the ensuing traffic stop, Moosman reportedly told officers she had meth concealed in her crotch area; she subsequently removed a bag from inside the front of her pants, the arresting officer wrote in the probable cause statement.

The baggie reportedly contained 222 grams of a white crystal substance consistent with meth, the document stated, adding that police later recovered another 25 grams of suspected meth at Moosman’s home, along with measuring scales and syringes.

In April, Moosman pleaded guilty to a single count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a second-degree felony.

During Monday’s hearing, the judge imposed a sentence of 300 days in jail but said that term would be suspended so long as Moosman successfully abides by the conditions of her drug treatment program.

Moosman’s 36-month probation period is to be supervised by Adult Probation and Parole, the judge ordered.

The court also waived $19,000 in fines and fees, leaving Moosman to pay only a $53 mandatory surcharge.

In lieu of the fines, Bell ordered Moosman to complete 100 hours of community service, at the rate of at least eight hours per month until fulfilled.

Moosman’s next scheduled court date is a jail term review hearing on Dec. 5.

Meanwhile, the man who police said had been driving the car during the Feb. 26 traffic stop has since been arraigned in Iron County Justice Court on one count of marijuana possession, a class B misdemeanor.

Darin Travis Dejuncker, 40, also of Cedar City, pleaded not guilty to the charge on May 23. His next scheduled court date is a pretrial conference on July 6.

According to Utah court records, Moosman and Dejuncker both have extensive criminal histories, including multiple convictions for drug-related offenses. A third occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 40s, was neither arrested nor charged, although a cursory records search showed him also to have a similarly lengthy criminal background.
