At approximately 6:27 p.m. Thursday, a wildfire broke out on Dalton Wash Road in Virgin, according to Color Country Interagency Fire Center.

The fire was reportedly caused by a vehicle rollover. The wind-driven blaze is growing rapidly, Utah Fire Info reported in a Facebook post. A Type 3, multiagency or multi-jurisdictional, team has been ordered.

Excessive heat and drought led the Bureau of Land Management to issue the following statement June 2:

As of June 2, fire restrictions will be in effect for BLM-managed public lands in Canyon Country District, Color Country District and Paria River District. The statewide fire prevention order is in effect for all Utah public lands managed by the BLM. Exploding targets and fireworks are not allowed on public lands.

This is a developing story.
