The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. approximately one half-mile west of Walmart.

Cedar City Police Cpl. Zac Adams said two men were riding their motorcycles heading east when one of them lost control.

“It sounds like motorcycle was going around a curve, lost control and then went off the road to the left,” Adams told Cedar City News at the scene, adding that the investigation is still preliminary.

The man, who was ejected from the bike, sustained injuries Adams described as non-life threatening. Both riders were wearing helmets and protective gear.

The injured man was transported via Gold Cross Ambulance to Cedar City Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the other rider reportedly arranged for someone to come in a private vehicle and pick up the damaged motorcycle.

Traffic in the area was impacted for more than 40 minutes while the scene was cleared, with one lane closed and cars let through via the open lane in an alternating fashion.

Cedar City Fire Department personnel and Iron County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the incident.

This report is based on statements from law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
