The crash happened at approximately 9:10 a.m. on the northbound side of South 1000 East in front of an apartment complex near the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute of Religion building.

St. George Police Officer Eric Trombley told St. George News a gray Volkswagon Passat crashed into a parked black Dodge Dart and pushed it onto the sidewalk.

The woman who was driving the Passat, who was also the sole occupant, was transported to St. George Regional Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance. Her injuries were reported as not life-threatening. Police said a medical issue may be to blame for the crash.

“She says she doesn’t remember what happened. There were no signs of impairment or odor of any kind of indicators of drugs,” Trombley said. “She said she had lost consciousness.”

The woman was wearing her seat belt, Trombley said, and the front and side airbags of her vehicle were deployed.

The crash was cleared by 9:50 a.m. Being a lightly traveled street – especially with Utah Tech on summer break – there was little to no disruption to traffic. Along with the police and Gold Cross, the St. George Fire Department also responded to the scene to help with cleanup.
