IRON COUNTY — A dirt bike racer was life-flighted away from the scene of a crash during the World Off Road Championship Series event at Three Peaks Oasis, Saturday evening.
At approximately 5:13, the Iron County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a crash at Three Peaks Oasis on Lund Highway, Lt. Jeff Humphries said. A 25-year-old man from Santaquin crashed while riding a course at the event and was unresponsive.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, Sheriff’s Cpl. Brandon Kennedy said.
When the Sheriff’s Department arrived, the man was being treated by privately contracted paramedics, after which an Intermountain Life Flight helicopter was paged, Humphries said. Deputies helped load him into the helicopter, after which he was transported to St. George Regional Hospital.
The scene was cleared without incident, Humphries said.
Kennedy said the department does not know the man’s current condition or specific information concerning his injuries. No other injuries or property damages were reported.
Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.
