Rulon Eugene Rasmussen

Rulon Eugene Rasmussen, 91, passed away May 16, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Monroe, Utah. His parents were Rulon S. and Floral Rasmussen. He graduated from South Sevier High School in 1949 and attended the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City for one year. Rulon was called to serve a mission to Brazil in 1950. He married Marilyn Stapley in 1954 and graduated from BYU with a degree in Business Administration in 1955.

Rulon was always an avid sports enthusiast, both as a participant and a fan. His favorite teams were BYU football and basketball, the LA Dodgers and whoever else might be playing. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Oakridge Country Club in Farmington, Utah, and the Blue Lakes CC in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Rulon worked for California Bank in Los Angeles for seven months in 1955 before being ordered to active duty in the United States Air Force. He served for approximately two years as a deputy finance officer at Walker AFB in Roswell, New Mexico, with a rank of 1st lieutenant. He worked in the banking business in senior management positions until 1994 when he retired and relocated to Santa Clara, Utah. Rulon also worked for California Bank in Los Angeles, Walker Bank in Salt Lake City and Twin Falls Bank and Trust in Twin Falls, Idaho, and retired from Wells Fargo Bank in Twin Falls.

Rulon is a father of four daughters: Lori Roper, Denise Gregory, Patti Haire and Gina Crezee. He is a grandfather to 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. After Marilyn’s passing in 1998, he married Gwen Leishman Fuhriman in 2000 who brought her five children: Kevin Fuhriman, Teresa Lewis, Scott Fuhriman, Lori Coggins and Blake Fuhriman, together with numerous grandchildren, into the family.

Rulon served five full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which include: Brazil 1950-1953; Portugal Lisbon South/Cape Verde, 1995-1997; Nauvoo 2003; Australia Adelaide 2005-2007 and Family History Support Mission 2010. He served in numerous church callings, including leadership positions as a bishop, high councilor, high priests group leader and many others.

Rulon is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Ronald, and his wife Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Gwen and all nine of their children.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Amber Hills Chapel, 9011 Hillpointe Road, Las Vegas, Nevada. Visitations will be Friday, May 20, 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the chapel prior to services. Interment will be Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at the Santa Clara City Cemetery, 1950 Ancestor Way, Santa Clara, Utah.
