ST. GEORGE — A child was transported to the hospital with reportedly serious injuries after being run over in a residential driveway on Thursday.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the St. George Police Department responded to a report of a 9-year-old child who’d been run over by a vehicle that was pulling into a driveway on 610 North, St. George Police Sgt. Tyrell Bangerter told St. George News.
The child was transported in a Gold Cross Ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital with serious injuries, Bangerter said. No other injuries were reported.
The incident is still under investigation and no citations have been issued, Bangerter said, adding that the driver was on scene cooperating with police. The accident reconstruction team was called to investigate and were talking to the driver and witnesses. Additionally, officers could be seen using a drone and LIDAR technology during their investigation.
Bangerter said both drivers and pedestrians alike should be aware of their surroundings, especially in small, residential areas.
“As the weather gets better, more and more people are outside,” he said. “Make sure that we’re watching what’s going on to try to prevent these types of situations from occurring.”
The St. George Fire Department also responded to the scene.
This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
