Around 4 p.m., a passenger car was passing through the intersection of State and Main when it collided with a pickup truck making a left turn, Hurricane City Police Officer Dan Radditz said.

Turning left in an intersection into oncoming traffic is counted among the types of crashes categorized under “failure to yield right of way” and is counted among Utah’s top five causes of driver contributed crashes, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety.

“If it involves an intersection, it’s usually a left turn,” Radditz said.

While the collision resulted in minor injuries, no one required transportation to the hospital by ambulance, the officer said.

The pickup’s driver was also cited for his part in the crash. And the scene eventually was cleared.

Hurricane City Police responded to the scene along with Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue.
