ST. GEORGE — The driver in a one-car crash Wednesday night at the intersection of Bluff Street and 100 South died from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to a press release from the St. George Police Department, the dispatch center received a call about a single vehicle that had crashed at 8:15 p.m.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle had been driving erratically just prior to the crash.

The white sedan was traveling northbound on Bluff Street when it suddenly crossed southbound travel lanes and crashed into the culvert, directly in front of and to the side of the driveway into Spilsbury Mortuary. No other vehicles or pedestrians were hit.

The press release states that the white sedan was driven by a 21-year-old male who was extricated from the vehicle and transported to St. George Regional Hospital with significant injuries.

“He was immediately taken into surgery after which he succumbed to his injuries,” reads the press release. “Speed and no seatbelt appear to be contributing factors to his injuries.”

We offer our condolences to the family and friends of the driver. His name will not be released at this time. We implore you to slow down, wear your seat belt, put your phone and other distractions away while behind the wheel, and never drive impaired.
