HURRICANE — The Pine View High School girls golf team won the Region 10 weekly match for the fifth straight week on Wednesday, posting a team score of 344.
Playing through Sand Hollow Resort’s nine-hole Links course twice, Pine View’s top four golfers all finished in the top 10 for the day, led by Alyssa Butterfus, who shot a 79, which was second only to Dixie’s Annabelle Millard, who shot 76 on the par-72 round.
Also for Pine View, Hallie Wieland shot an 85, while teammates Skyeli Millward and Kenzi Owen each scored 90.
Pine View head coach Matt Wieland said the Panthers’ score was just one stroke higher than their season-best.
“But given the windy conditions today, it was absolutely our best performance of the year,” he said. “It was tough today.”
Coming in at 16 strokes behind the Panthers was runner-up Desert Hills, which finished with a total score of 360. Three Desert Hills golfers finished among the top 10, led by Rylee Payne’s 84, while teammates Lucy Dixon and Brooklynn Rhodes had 89 apiece.
Next week’s Region 10 match is scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, which is also the course that is scheduled to host the 4A state tournament on May 11-12.
