Around 9:30 p.m. Monday the dispatch center received a report of gunshots in the area of West Rio Virgin Drive and sent police to investigate, according to a statement from the St. George Department issued over social media Tuesday.

Responding officers met with the homeowners who made the report and spoke with a woman who said she had been sitting in her living room when she “heard an explosion over her head.”

The woman found a hole in the wall three feet from where she had been sitting that appeared to have a bullet in it. Officers on the scene confirmed it was a bullet hole and also found a bullet in a kitchen cabinet door, according to the police statement.

Witnesses told police the shots had been fired from Brigham Road across the river and shell casings were found by officers when they canvassed the area.

The police then went to area residents and were able to obtain home security video of the suspect vehicle leaving the area following what sounds like 10 or so shots being fired in rapid succession. The police posted the video online and it is also shared in the media player at the top of this article.

The vehicle in the video has a loud muffler, a factor to assist the public in an effort to locate the driver, according to the police statement.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information on the vehicle involved is asked to call the St. George Police Department immediately at 435-627-4300.
