With two albums under their belt and one more, “The Last Resort,” slated for release in May, Midland has made waves in the country music scene resulting in several award nominations and an Academy of Country Music Awards win for New Group of the Year in 2018. The trio sports a traditional country sound and is known for their most popular songs, “Drinkin’ Problem,” “Burnout” and their newest EP, “Sunrise Tells the Story.”

“‘Sunrise Tells the Story’ resonates with people,” bassist Cameron Duddy said. “It’s a waltz, and I don’t know how long it’s been since that kind of song has been on the radio. It’s kind of old-school, but it’s a romantic country song that is authentic to the kind of music we love to listen to.”

Billboard describes the band’s sound as having “a definite George Strait ‘80s feel to it, combined with the rich California harmonies that made the Eagles legendary.”

“If you’re on the fence and don’t understand where Midland comes from, come to our show!” Duddy added. “We love playing in Utah, and our Cedar City show is going to be epic.”

Midland’s “The Last Resort Tour” is presented by SUU Alumni & Community Relations and 99.9 KONY Country and is the first concert in the university’s year-long 125th-anniversary celebration. For more information, visit SUU.edu/alumni.
