HURRICANE — The Pine View Panthers were once again the top performing high school girls golf team this week, the third Region 10 match of the season.

Playing at Sky Mountain Golf Course in Hurricane on Thursday, Pine View posted a winning score of 343, which was 19 strokes below last week’s top score of 362 at Southgate in St. George.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Alyssa Butterfus, who shot a 4-over-par 76.

“Alyssa was so fun to watch today,” Pine View head coach Matt Wieland told St. George News. “She drove the green on three par 4’s. A couple of rough holes cost her a really low round.”

Coming in second place were the Dixie Flyers, who were led by senior Annabelle Millard’s sizzling score of 69.

“Annabelle was Annabelle today,” Wieland said. “She’s just ridiculously good. Her round could have gone south with a couple of wayward tee shots that cost her. She recovered by making birdie on four of her final seven holes. Just awesome.”

Dixie’s top four golfers finished with a total score of 360, an improvement of 18 strokes from the previous week.

The team with the biggest improvement from Week 2 to Week 3, however, was Cedar. The Reds went from a last-place score of 467 last week to a fourth-place 396 on Thursday. They were led by RaeLee Johnson’s score of 91.

Next week’s match is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at SunRiver Golf Club in St. George.
