The event will bring thousands of senior athletes from all over the world to St. George to participate in 30-plus sports, according to a news release from the foundation.

The Games, which promotes active aging and camaraderie, is the largest annual multi-sport event in the world for athletes over 50. Many competitors train all year for their events, which include archery, bowling, cycling, golf, softball, swimming, volleyball and more.

When individuals and groups register for the Games as Huntsman Heroes, they can go for the gold while they raise funds for the lifesaving mission of Huntsman Cancer Institute, the news release said. The Huntsman Heroes team is an inclusive group of athletes from all walks of life who are committed to making an impact in cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

“Their dedication to funding cancer research helps provide a path forward for those who will experience a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime,” said Susan Sheehan, president and chief operating officer of the foundation.

Since 2003, Huntsman World Senior Games has donated to Huntsman Cancer Foundation to help advance cancer research and develop safer, less toxic treatments for all types of cancer.

“We can’t wait to see all the athletes again in person this year,” said Jen Murano, director of events at HCF. “It’s inspiring to see them achieve their fitness goals while supporting the fight against cancer.”

All HCI fundraising initiatives happen through Huntsman Cancer Foundation, which is a public, functionally integrated, Type III 501 (c)(3) organization.
