What’s on the Menu: Wing Nutz

ST. GEORGE — As host of “What’s on the Menu,” Sheldon Demke enjoys visiting his favorite places to eat around town. And when he sees a Best of Southern Utah gold winner’s medallion at a restaurant, he knows the people of St. George love it too.

There’s plenty to love about Wing Nutz, so Demke brought his good buddy AJ Martinez along to dig into some delicious finger foods.

Demke and Martinez started with the greatest food invention of all time: nachos. Chips, cheese, pico de gallo, a Southwest blend of corn and beans, freshly sliced jalapeños, a bit more cheese for good measure and barbecue chicken. ¡Qué rico!

“I can’t come to Wing Nutz without getting the nachos. Love the nachos here,” Demke said. “We had our nachos with chipotle chicken on top. Their sauces here are dynamite, pure dynamite!”

They also tried a salad for health’s sake. Fresh greens, roasted tomatoes, red onions, a blend of cheeses, pine nuts, dried cranberries, croutons and of course, barbecue chicken.

It would be blasphemous to visit Wing Nutz and not order wings, so they got a sampler platter with six bone-in wings, six boneless wings and four pork “hog wings.”

“That sampler was to die for,” Martinez said. “It had the right taste in every single sauce and more importantly, the meat was so tender. The way it felt in my mouth was just partying.”

Wing Nutz boasts 18 house-made sauces to choose from and the best-baked wings in the business. They use only free-range, cage-free, hormone-free and steroid-free chicken. Orders are always baked in their state-of-the-art ovens, never fried. And with live music and karaoke every week, it’s the perfect local watering hole.
