CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Watch dozens of colorful hot air balloons take flight during the fifth annual SkyFest on Saturday, hosted by Sand Hollow Resort.
SkyFest has grown into one of the largest hot air balloon festivals in the area. Featuring more than 30 balloons and pilots from around the nation, this year’s event will be the biggest yet.
“It’s beautiful,” said Carrie Bunker, marketing and events manager for Sand Hollow Resort. “The skies come alive with color, and we already have a beautiful backdrop so that just adds to it.”
Balloons will take to the skies starting at 7:30 a.m. Bundle up and watch them rise with the sun to soar high over the Hurricane Valley. Designated viewing spots throughout the resort are available for $20 per vehicle, and warm refreshments will be offered at the launch site.
Later that day, the Sand Hollow Resort Grille will host the SkyFest VIP Glow Dinner from 5-9 p.m. Tickets cost $120 per person and include a three-course meal, patio viewing of the glow and a meet-and-greet with the pilots.
After dinner, attendees can visit the golf course to get up close and personal with the balloons and even climb into one of the baskets. No rides will be available to the public due to insurance restrictions.
All events are dependent on weather conditions.
