CEDAR CITY — An early morning fire at a Cedar City residence destroyed an attached garage on Sunday.
Cedar City Fire Chief Mike Phillips said the fire, which occurred at a home located near 1100 South and 1250 West, was reported to dispatchers at 3:21 a.m.
“We were here within four minutes and found the garage on fire,” Phillips told Cedar City News at the scene.
Approximately 25 firefighters responded, including the crews assigned to three engines, a ladder truck and a heavy rescue truck. The firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to the home; however, the garage and its contents, including two cars and a motorcycle, were a total loss. Fortunately, Phillips said, no injuries were reported.
“The occupants and their animals all got out and nobody was hurt.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the chief added.
