3-vehicle collision clogs lunch-hour traffic at intersection of Sunset Boulevard, Dixie Drive

ST. GEORGE — Lunch-hour traffic was impacted Monday at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Dixie Drive after a van rear-ended a Chevrolet Tahoe – and then pushed it into a Toyota C-HR, police say.

The three vehicles – a white 2019 Ram ProMaster van, white 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, and a black 2018 Toyota C-HR – were all in the left turning lane where westbound Sunset Boulevard meets Dixie Drive when the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m.

“The driver of the van looked down at his GPS,” said St. George Police Officer Eric Trombley. “He looked up just in time to see the white Tahoe as he rammed into its rear-end.”

Trombley said there were no injuries and that all the drivers were wearing their seat belts. While the Tahoe and the C-HR sustained minor damage, the van had to be towed, he added. The scene was cleared within an hour.

This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
